About IBDF
Independent by design
We make blockchain technology legible to institutions, students, policymakers, and the public.
Who we are
Independent by design
The International Blockchain Development Foundation is an independent nonprofit advancing blockchain education. Our work draws on a contributor network of practitioners, researchers, and educators — people who engage with the Foundation's mission rather than its management, keeping the work focused and independent.
We are not affiliated with any blockchain protocol, token project, or investment vehicle. Our goal is to make blockchain technology legible to policymakers, students, and institutions — and to bring emerging practitioners into the conversations that shape it.
Why it matters
The adoption gap is an education problem
Blockchain technology is already reshaping financial systems, contracts, and record-keeping — yet mainstream adoption remains uneven. The gap is not technical. It is educational. Policymakers, institutions, and individuals who could benefit most often lack access to clear, unbiased information about how these systems work and what they enable.
The Foundation exists to close that gap — making accurate, institution-quality information broadly available and bringing emerging practitioners into the conversations that determine this technology's future.
Written to outlast the hype.
Our approach
Built for the long view
Our materials are grounded in technical accuracy and free of hype. We partner with educators and researchers who share our commitment to clear, honest communication. Our student sponsorship program is selective and relationship-oriented — we connect sponsored students with the people and conversations most relevant to their development, not just their registration.
